Netzpolitik.org is a German online magazine founded by the Internet activist Markus Beckedahl. The site covers a wide range of topics on netpolitics, cyberactivism, civil liberties and tech news. It is financed mainly by reader donations. In 2015, two netzpolitik.org journalists faced charges of treason because they published information that revealed German secret service plans for new surveillance projects. The journalists refused to take down the information, and a huge protest ensued. In the end, the federal attorney general had to resign.
